Aims and Scope

The Open Anesthesia Journal is an Open Access journal, which publishes research articles, reviews/mini-reviews, letters and guest edited single topic issues in all areas of experimental and clinical research in anesthesia, pharmacokinetics, anesthetic mechanisms, critical care, preoperative care, clinical skills, cost issues, coexisting disease, and other factors affecting treatment. It also includes articles related to cardiovascular anesthesia, pediatric anesthesia, and neurosurgical anesthesia.


The Open Anesthesia Journal, a peer-reviewed journal, is an important and reliable source of current information on developments in the field. Emphasis is placed on publishing quality papers, making them freely available to researchers worldwide.

Brief Biography

Dr. Ke Ren completed his Ph.D studies in the University of Lowa and postdoctoral studies at the National Institutes of Health. He has nearly 40 years of experience in biochemical research focusing on Neurosciences and Pain. He is a Professor in the Department of Neural and Pain Sciences at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry. He has published more than 180 manuscripts and book chapters. He is the Editor-in-Chief of The Open Pain Journal and The Open Anesthesiology Journal since 2015. He has been serving as an editorial board member of Pain, Journal of Pain, Evidence-Based complementary and alternative Medicine, Pain Research and treatment, and Odontology.
